Anyone deciding to play roulette, even just for fun, is hoping for a little win, but what is the best roulette strategy? There are various roulette strategies to choose between. Many help you distance yourself from the betting process, enabling you to remain more objective and less prone to over-excitement and overspending.

Whether one roulette strategy works more often than another is left down to personal experience, especially as roulette is largely down to chance. However, there are tips and tricks which can potentially help you lower the casino advantage.

The Best Roulette Strategies

➡️ The Fibonacci System

This is a negative progression betting system. You increase your bet every time you lose and decrease with every win while following this naturally occurring mathematical sequence. The Fibonacci strategy follows a pattern in which each number is made up of the sum of the two numbers before it – like this: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55… and keeps going up in this way.

So: 0 + 1 = 1, 1 + 1 = 2, 1 + 2 = 3, 2 + 3 = 5, 3 + 5 = 8 and so on.

How does that translate into betting?

Let’s keep it as simple as we can:

1. You begin, placing a bet of $1 – that is the first no.1 written into the Fibonacci sequence.
2. You lose. You bet another $1 – you’re now on the second no.1 in the sequence.
3. You lose – you bet $2 – because 1 + 1 = 2 and no.2 is the next number in the sequence.
4. You win – so you go back down two numbers – starting back at the first no.1

If you lose – you move up one number in the Fibonacci sequence from whichever point you are at and bet that amount.

The cash amounts start like this: $1, $1, $2, $3, $5, $8, $13, $21, $34, $55…

If you win – you move back down two numbers in the sequence.

If you win before you’ve moved up two spaces in the sequence, you just start again at the beginning.

➡️ The Martingale System

Like Fibonacci, when using the Martingale betting strategy, you only up your bet if you lose. Only with the Martingale system, which is much simpler, whenever you lose a bet, you double your previous bet.

The thought behind it is that you win that lost money back plus a little extra when you win. This doesn’t mean it’s without risks though, it does increase your chances of hitting a win, but only in the short term, those wins aren’t necessarily big, and if you’re playing the long game, the losses could be more substantial.

It’s important to remember, with this strategy, you only place even money bets, like odd/even, red/black, or on 0 to 18/19 to 36.

An example of play:

1. You place a $5 bet on red
2. You lose – You’re now at minus $5
3. You bet $10 on red
4. You lose – so that’s further minus $10
5. You place a bet for $20 on red
6. You win!
7. At 1 to 1, you get your last bet of $20 back, and you make another $20
8. That means in total you get back $40
9. Making your total profit $5 (after deducting what wagered)

➡️ Labouchère System

With this system, you also increase your bet only after a loss, but this time you set a goal of how much you hope to win right from the start.

You divide that amount up into a sequence of smaller written numbers. Then add the numbers on the far right and far left together to work out how much you’re going to wager first.

If you win, then the two numbers you used are crossed off, and you use the next two on the far right and the far left to determine your next bet amount. If your wager loses, then the amount you wagered is added back onto the far right-hand side of the written sequence.

An example of play:

1. You decide you’re looking for a win of $15
2. You write that down in smaller numbers like this = 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5
3. As the outside numbers (far right and far left) you take the 1 and the 5, 1- 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 add those up and bet $6
4. You win – you cross off the 1 and the 5 = 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5
5. You add the 2 and 4 = 2 – 3 – 4 and bet $6 again
6. You lose – you add that 6 to the end of the sequence like so = 2 – 3 – 4 – 6
7. You now add the 2 and 6 = 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 and bet $8
8. You win – so add the 3 and 4 = 3 – 4 and bet $7
9. You win! You have reached your $15 goal.

➡️ The D’Alembert System

The D’Alembert strategy is another progressive strategy that focuses on even bets. This time, one coin is added to your wager for every loss made, and with every win, one coin is removed.

An example of play:

1. You bet $5 and lose
2. Now you’re at minus $5, so you bet $6, and you win
3. Now you have $5 back plus $1
4. Now you go back down and bet $5, and you win
5. You now have $6

➡️ Andrucci System

Inspired by Chaos Theory, start by writing down winning numbers that appear in 30 to 35 spins. Pick one which looks promising and sticks to it for 15 to 25 spins, unless you win before then. It’s risky but still popular.

An example of play:

1. You bet $5 on number 17 and win
2. You are up by $175
3. You bet another $5 on number 17 and lose

4. You go back down to $1 for the next bet

➡️ 3/2 Roulette System

The idea here is to place two different bets, one an outside and one column bet. In theory, this evens out your risks of losing.

An example of play:

1. Option no.1 would be: Bet 3 units on a red and then 2 units on say column 2.
2. Option no.2 would be: Bet 3 units on black and 2 units on, say, column 3.

➡️ James Bond Roulette Strategy

James Bond is better known for his love of baccarat, but he also dabbles in roulette from time to time, and like any fictional super agent, he has his own betting strategy that overcomes the odds. Movie fans might be a bit surprised by this fact since it’s merely described in the book “Casino Royale.” However, the James Bond betting strategy has become somewhat famous amongst fans and other players.

The system is a flat betting system where you in each round makes 3 bets worth 20 units:

• 14 units on 19-36 (pays 1/1)
• 5 units on the 6-line bet on 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 (pays 5/1)
• 1 unit on 0 (pays 36/1)

This way, 25 numbers result in a win while only 12 a loss, slightly moving the odds in your favour. Even though you make several bets in one round, it yields a small profit every time you get a winning number.

What can Affect your Roulette Strategy

This rather aggressive roulette playing-system functions by a person betting on as many numbers as they can at one time. The idea is that the greater the amount of numbers you bet on at one time, the greater the chances are of you making a profit.

Evocative as the name may appear to be, the ‘666 strategy’ got this name for the simple reason that when you add up all the numbers on the roulette wheel in a certain way, they add up to 666.

Whatever the reasoning behind the name, the general outcome for the player with this strategy is that they make a loss.

❌ Watching for Patterns

The other useless strategy when playing roulette is looking for patterns. Online casinos use something called a Random Number Generator or RNG for short. This completely eradicates any possible mathematical formula from the equation, which means that every number is random and, as such, completely unpredictable.
